The House of Representatives yesterday Thursday May 29th approved 14 years imprisonment for persons who contracted same sex marriage in the country.

This was sequel to a clause-by-clause consideration of a Bill for an Act to prohibit marriage or union entered between persons of same sex, at the Committee of the Whole.

“Marriage or civil union entered between persons of same gender shall not be solemnised in any place of worship, either church or mosque or any place in Nigeria,” it said.

A former member, House of Representatives, Dino Melaye, has come under heavy attack from his Facebook friends over his comments about the 2013 Democracy Day celebration.

Idimu Community Primary School, Idimu, Lagos has two classes of pupils. One resume with their teachers by 8am and closes by 2pm. As soon as it is 2pm, the other set of ‘pupils’, made up of area boys and hoodlums, take over. Any teacher they meet in the school premises is harassed and forced out.

This sad incident occurred on Monday night May 27th along Airport road in Mafoluku, Lagos. A trailer carrying heavy duty rods lost control and fell on a car with three people inside.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a grandfather, Mr. Segun Kayode, for allegedly exhuming and selling human parts.

According to the police, the suspect, who works at a cemetery in Epe area of the state, was arrested with a human skull.

Police sources told US that the suspect sold human parts for a living, adding that he had become notorious in the area for selling human parts.

ABUJA— President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, gave a robust defence of his administration’s performance at mid-term and dismissed public and media assessment of his ministers, saying the criticisms were mostly bereft of objectivity.

A total of $3.95m has been paid as compensation to relatives of passengers and crew members, who died in the June 3, 2012 Dana Air crash in Lagos, the airline has said.

Dana Air said on Monday that its insurers had made progress in the payment of compensation.

LAGOS — Oronna Street in Abule-Egba area of Lagos was, yesterday, thrown into confusion after a 60-year-old man who allegedly killed his wife over his missing N500, locked himself up with the corpse.

Reports said fight broke out after the man identified as Gbadebo Elegbede, accused his 17-year-old son of stealing his N500 at about 7am. His wife, Maria, was said to have defended his son, an action that reportedly led to a verbal confrontation with her husband,which degenerated into a scuffle.

In the process, Gbadebo was said to have hit his wife with a hard object on the face, causing her to slump.

The State Security Service on Monday detained the Ogun State Correspondent of The Punch, Mr. Segun Olatunji.

Olatunji had gone to the SSS Command office on the invitation of its state Director, Mr. Joseph Okpo.

Okpo, through the Chairman, Correspondent Chapel of the state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mr. Kehinde Akinyemi, invited Olatunji to the SSS office in Abeokuta.

RIVERS State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi

THE political whirlwind blowing the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, became more ferocious on Monday with the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party suspending him from the party.

The PDP said Amaechi would remain suspended until an 11-man panel set up to probe his “sins” submited its report. Chief Joe Gadzama (SAN), an Adamawa State indigene like the National Chairman of the party, Bamangar Tukur, chairs the investigative panel.
