Court orders el-Rufai, police to pay Choc City boss, Maikori N40m

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday awarded N40m to the President of Chocolate City Group, Audu Maikori, as compensation for his unlawful arrest and detention between February 17 and 18, 2017 and again March 10 and 13, 2017.

Burundi withdraws from ICC


Burundi on Friday became the first ever nation to leave the International Criminal Court, set up some 15 years ago to prosecute those behind the world’s worst atrocities.

“Burundi’s withdrawal from the Rome Statute will take effect on Friday, 27 October 2017,” an ICC spokesperson told AFP.

Catalan parliament declares independence




Catalan lawmakers voted Friday to declare independence from Spain, as Madrid vowed in turn to “restore legality” and quash the region’s secessionist bid.
With thousands of pro-independence activists gathered outside, the regional parliament in Barcelona passed a resolution to “declare Catalonia an independent state in the form of a republic”.

Court decides Evans’ applications to quash murder charges Nov. 10

The Lagos State High Court in Igbosere has fixed November 10 to rule on whether or not to quash the murder and illegal sales of firearms charges filed by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions against alleged kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans.
