Is the prediction that Nigeria will disintegrate by 2015 coming to reality?

HOW has Nigeria degenerated to this low level of animal behaviour of killing one another across the country? Nigerian leaders appear helpless. When as a people we collectively surrendered our sovereignty to the state to take care of all, it is the expectation that the state will protect us all. It will act in the best interest of all of us. Nigerians are afraid of their safety in almost every part of the country and the North East in particular. At a time, many well meaning Nigerians thought that the problem was about corruption and power failure, but now insecurity has taken over.

State of emergency: Northern leaders in crucial meeting

Alarmed by the grim prospects of the declaration of a state of emergency by the Presidency in five of their states, Northern elders are converging on Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, with a view to taking far-reaching decisions to halt such a move, which they see as punitive.

Meanwhile as the northern leaders were putting heads together to come up with a decision, the 36 state governors under the aegis, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, yesterday, urged President Goodluck Jonathan to ignore those agitating for state of emergency in some troubled states.

AMSTERDAM (AFP) – A 93rd-minute header from Branislav Ivanovic gave Chelsea a stunning 2-1 victory over Benfica in the Europa League final on Wednesday as the London club claimed the trophy for the first time in heart-stopping fashion.

The game in Amsterdam seemed destined for extra time after Fernando Torres’ superb 60th-minute opener for Chelsea was cancelled out by an Oscar Cardozo penalty, only for Ivanovic to net a dramatic winner with a looping header in stoppage time.

Club captain John Terry sat the game out with an ankle injury, but just as he had done after last season’s Champions League final, which he missed through suspension, he donned his full kit to lift the trophy alongside fellow Chelsea stalwart Frank Lampard.

Painkillers can kill your libido

                                                        Chronic pain

The average Nigerian is a doctor, even if he never went beyond the elementary school. To get a free and unsolicited drug prescription, just complain of one ailment and the drug referrals begin to flow like a deluge.

People don’t just prescribe drugs or home remedies for others, they also “treat” themselves whenever what they consider manageable health issues crop up. Consequently, by the time many people finally think of seeking professional help, they are almost ready for the morgue.
