Punish oil thieves, Northern govs tell FG


ABUJA —Governors of the 19 Northern states, yesterday regretted that President Goodluck Jonathan has not punished those who allegedly stole the nation’s oil money, warning that the situation portends danger for the country.

Announced in Abu Dhabi on Thursday his foundation will contribute $1.8 billion to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, a third of the total funds needed.

Two nabbed over attempt to derail trains in Ogun

ABEOKUTA — The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Ogun State, Wednesday, said it apprehended two suspects, Popoola Sunday, 30, and Dell Taiwan 25, at Igbore village near Obada-Oko, in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state while attempting to derail trains.

Public Relations Officer of the Corps in the state, Kareem Olanrewaju, in a statement in Abeokuta said the duo were caught while removing the railway chains used to tighten the rail to allow for a firm grip.

According to Olanrewaju, the suspects were caught in the act. He said their act was capable of derailing trains which may result in loss of lives. They were arrested by NSCDC men on patrol.

Boston bomb suspect: My brother was the mastermind

The surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings has indicated that his older brother, not any international terrorist group, masterminded the deadly attack, a U.S. government source said.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who has been hospitalized with a tube down his throat in recent days, communicated with investigators by writing and nodding.

The preliminary interviews with Tsarnaev suggest the two brothers fit the classification of self-radicalized jihadists, the source said.

Tsarnaev has conveyed to investigators that Tamerlan’s motivation stemmed from jihadist thought and the idea that Islam is under attack, and jihadists need to fight back, the source said Monday.
