Omotola husband’s scrap plane causes panic in Lagos

A scrap plane formerly owned by the late Apostle Gabriel Oduyemi of Bethel Ministries, Ajah, Lagos, caused panic in the city on Thursday as rumour spread that another aircraft had crashed in Lagos.

It was learnt that the plane, which was recently released to Capt Matthew Ekeinde, husband of Nollywood star, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, was being dragged to Badagry area of the state before its tyre burst. The incident forced the new owner to dump the plane in a nearby filling station.

BBA latest: Nigeria’s Melven leads house in new task


This week the Housemates have a Task that they felt was confusing. In the Diamond House, HoH Melvin had to read the details of the Task at least three times for his fellow Housemates to understand it.

Melvin led the bunch and suggested that they decide on a reasonable Wager. The Diamonds settled on 100 percent Wager yet again, in good faith that their presentation will be a success, like it was last week.

The Task: This week’s Task is an inter-house competition between the Diamonds, Rubies and Emeralds. Housemates will have to bake, write poetry and do artwork for their Presentation. The House that impresses Biggie will win the inter-house Task and their Wager. Biggie is not the only judge this week.

LAGOS — Operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja have arrested three fleeing members of a syndicate who allegedly specialized in selling live humans and decomposing human parts for money rituals.

Taraba plans big for Suntai’s return


Nine months after a close shave with death, indications emerged, yesterday, that injured Taraba State Governor, Danbaba Suntai, was set to return to Jalingo, the state capital.

School proprietor caught having sex with 11-year-old pupil




Residents of Agric Olope area of Ado Ekiti have apprehended the proprietor of a private Nursery and Primary School, who was found in a bush allegedly having sex with a pupil of his school.

The incident happened on Monday after school hours.

Our correspondent gathered on Wednesday that the proprietor, identified as Mr. Tunde Ibitoye, picked the girl and another pupil of the same school and was taking them home in his car when he stopped at a deserted place and went into the bush pretending to be defecating.

Fatai Rolling Dollar dies at 85



Veteran highlife musician, Fatai Olanrewaju Olagunji, popularly known as Rolling Dollar, has passed on.

The artiste, who took ill about two weeks ago, was 85. Information from his associates indicated that he died on Wednesday in a Lagos hospital.
The sun set on a star of the Nigerian music scene on Wednesday as juju highlife maestro, Fatai Olagunju, popularly called Rolling Dollar, passed away.

He died at a Lagos hospital at the age of 86.

Psychiatric patient commits suicide in Calabar

A mentally unstable person, Joel Uduak, has committed suicide by hanging himself at the Federal Psychiatric Hospital in Calabar, Cross River State.

The incident, which happened around 2am on Sunday, allegedly took the medical staff by surprise as the hospital had ensured that its structures were built to make suicide impossible.

A source, who craved anonymity, said Uduak quietly left his room to commit suicide without suspicion from his roommates.

Fashola signs cremation bill into law


Following the passage of cremation bill by the state House of Assembly, Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos state, Monday, signed cremation bill into law, which provides for voluntary burning of corpses and unclaimed corpses in the state.

Container truck crushes man, govt meat van

Tragedy struck on Thursday at Ikeja Along Bus Stop on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Lagos State, after a heavily loaded 40-foot container truck fell on a government meat van, crushed a passerby, and wounded several others.

Eyewitnesses said the truck had swerved off the road to avoid colliding with some policemen, who were chasing a motorcycle rider, before the incident occurred around 9am.

CALABAR — A 21-year-old man, Samuel Eyo Nsa, has stabbed his 78-year-old father, Chief Eyo Nsa, to death at Eseko village, Creek Town in Odukpani Local Government Area of the state.

His reason: the late father allegedly refused to defend him after he was caught stealing a neighbour’s goat.

 The Nigerian Copyright Commission has arrested one Mr. Ubong Obot for illegally transmitting broadcast signals of Multichoice (DSTV) to an estimated 500 houses in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.

Obot is said to have installed the DSTV signals to different homes for N5,000 and charged N1,000 per month as subscription fee.

An 18-year-old boy, Olanrewaju Kayode-Aremu, who was recently arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for stabbing his 46-year-old father, Victor Kayode-Aremu, to death has said he does not regret his action.
