Honda goes mini with Urban SUV

The penchant for small car is fast spreading to virtually all segments of vehicles, as more people go for automobiles that are fuel efficient and can navigate through heavy traffic and have no parking difficulty.

Honda is set to release an all-new concept vehicle, a small sport utility vehicle next month.

The concept hints at a dynamic, fuel-efficient small SUV with inspirational styling and next-generation connectivity.

Experts note that compact SUVs are the current hot property in the automobile market as the Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster have amply demonstrated.

Toyota redesigns Camry for 2014

Toyota Camry is expected to get ‘significant’ attention from enthusiasts of new cars and other auto stakeholders in 2014 when a refreshed version of the vehicle is introduced.

Analysts say the Japanese auto manufacturing giant is likely to shrug off mounting competition from Ford, Chevrolet, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda and Nissan with the 2014 Camry.

A report by Allcars.2014 says the new Camry will bring many improvements and enhancements that will make the model more spacious and functional but retaining its modern and luxurious touch.

I was a science student while I was in school. But music runs in my family. Though my father was a radical priest. With his influence, we all joined the choir and learnt how to play different musical instruments very early in life. I started playing musical instruments when l was seven years. APC mulls Kwankwaso/ Fashola ticket for 2015 Presidential election

STRONG indications emerged yesterday that – following yesterday’s defection of some governors in the G7 group and Abubakar Kawu Baraje led defunct splinter group of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressive Congress, APC, – arrangements were being made by the opposition to have governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State and Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State to run for 2015 Presidential election.Vanguard gathered that the party wants to take advantage of the performance of Fashola in Lagos and that of Kwankwaso who is a northerner and from a state with a very large population.Not minding that they are both Muslims, the source said that it happened in 1993 when it was Moshood Abiola and Babagana Kingibe who are both Muslims and they ran for election and won, but was annulled. It was also gathered that APC may also beg governor Adams Oshiomhole because of his achievements in the state, his influence, popularity and acceptability by Nigerians to run for the presidency in the 2015 Presidential election.Kwankwaso was one of the governors who finally dumped the PDP yesterday for the APC.

CBN dumps polymer for paper notes in 2014

The Central Bank of Nigeria has said it will start printing the naira in paper notes in 2014.

It signed a deal in 2006 with Australia’s Securency International to print lower more-circulated units of the naira in polymer, while higher denominations were kept in paper form.

But six years after and following allegations that the manufacturer had bribed foreign officials to secure contracts, including in Nigeria, the CBN said it was being forced to reverse the policy.

A report by AFP on Tuesday quoted the spokesman for the CBN, Mr. Ugochukwu Okoroafor, as saying,

A university dropout, Sodiq Jimoh, has told operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Lagos that he is not an armed robber, but a killer.

Jimoh, a 28-year-old indigene of Lagos State, confessed that he was a member of Eiye Confraternity and was responsible for the murder of many rival cult members.

Baale’s son bags 17-year jail term

A Somolu Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 22-year-old man, Taiwo Jinadu, to 17 years in prison.

We learnt that Jinadu is the son of the Baale of a community in Bariga.

According to the police prosecutor, ASP Adegoke, the accused robbed one Mutairu Idris of a Nokia phone, valued at N13, on Olokodana Street on September 13, 2013, in the Bariga area of Lagos State.

Jinadu was also accused of stealing N110, 000 and attempting to kill Idris during the operation.

ASUU leaders chase Kogi gov away from hospital


Angry leaders of the Academic Staff Union of Universities allegedly chased away the Governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada (retd.) from the emergency ward of the Lokoja General Hospital on Tuesday.

Wada had gone to the hospital to visit their injured colleague, Dr. Ngozi Ilo, and commiserate with them over the death of their former President, Prof. Festus Iyayi, in an accident involving his convoy and an ASUU vehicle on Tuesday.

The Chairman, University of Benin chapter of ASUU, Dr. Anthony Monye-Emina; and the Benin Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Sunny Iyalo, had minor injuries and were therefore not admitted into the hospital.
