Court sacks Sanusi as CBN Governor forever ...transfers suit to National Industrial Court


The suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi yesterday lost his bid to return to office in his suit challenging his suspension from office.
The Federal High Court, Abuja in a judgment dismissed the case for want of subject-matter jurisdiction.

2015: Fashola condemns call for Christian successor

GOVERNOR Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, yesterday, condemned the demand by some Christian religious groups in the state that a Christian should be his successor in 2015, saying, “do they really believe in God? It is only God that can insist.”

The state chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, has recently called for a Christian to succeed the governor in 2015.

Fashola, while declaring open an inter-faith conference in Lagos, with the theme: ‘Peace, Religious Harmony and Good Governance: Issues and Challenges’, argued that the insecurity in the nation would reduce drastically if everyone embraced religious harmony.
According to him; “People have said that they want one particular governor and I have ask myself two questions – the people who said that they want one particular governor or said that there must be this particular governor, are they still conscious that it is an election where a choice has to be made? If there are two democrats, they should expect that citizens must have a say in who is sworn-in as the governor of their state.

A former military Head of State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has said that the person who was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for a N20m scam and who claimed to be his adopted son was not his son.
The former Head of State said that he had no need to adopt any son as God had blessed him with both male and female children.
The disclaimer by Buhari was contained in a statement issued on his behalf by the Chairman of the Buhari Vanguard, Mr. Jasper Azuatalam, on Monday.

May Day Tragedy: Scores die in fresh Abuja bombing on May 1st



ABUJA — EXACTLY 18 days after deadly bomb blasts at Nyanya bus terminal in Abuja killed 75 people and injured 200 others, Nigerians were thrown into mourning, yesterday evening, with another blast, which at press time had claimed at least 17 lives and scores more injured.Yesterday’s attack took place at Wazobia Park, Nyanya, opposite where the last attacks occured.As at 9:05 pm, 17 corpses were counted at the Emergency Ward of the Asokoro Hospital, while the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, ambulances were still rushing to ferry in more of the dead
