How N3.7bn UK house put Diezani in trouble

Ex-Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke
THERE were indications on Monday on how a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke and a former Managing Director of a parastatal under the NNPC got themselves into trouble with the police in the United Kingdom.
The PUNCH learnt that the purchase of houses each in London by the former minister and the sacked NNPC top shot had sent the police investigators after them since 2013.
Alison-Madueke and the ex-MD had bought a house each in London through a mortgage but the two were said to have attracted suspicion when they offered to pay huge sum to clear the mortgage on the properties.
A source said the ex-minister’s house cost £12.5m. The source was however silent on the cost of the house bought by the former MD of the subsidiary of the NNPC.
It was learnt that the UK’s National Crimes Agency had dispatched a team to Abuja for an investigation into the incomes of the affected public officers because of the huge amount of money that was being paid steadily to defray the amount on the mortgage.

I’m in love again –Iyabo Ojo

Iyabo Ojo
Popular actress, Iyabo Ojo is ecstatic! Oh yes, the screen diva said she has found love again and she is happy with the man in her life.
But then, the actress hinted that she and her lover have not discussed marriage plans even though they have been dating for about five years because she is not “really into marriage.” She attributed that feeling to the fact that she once had a failed marriage.
“I thank God that I have found love and I am very happy with him. He understands me because I am not an easy person to handle. I am always busy but my lover is very understanding. I always make sure I find time for him despite my busy schedule. I cook for him as well as my children. I don’t see cooking for my lover as a big thing because of the way I was brought up. I love cooking.
“ My lover is also an equally busy person but we always find time for each other. We have been together for about five years and as far as we are concerned, we are married even though we have not made it official yet. There is no much difference between our union

Casual sex, shared toothbrush can give you hepatitis B

Symtoms of hepatitis B.
Among infectious diseases globally, hepatitis B is reputed as the 10th leading cause of death. In Nigeria, experts say, nearly two-thirds of the population have contact with the virus, while about 20 per cent of the population is infected, with a good number unaware of it. Bad as it is, children are less likely to have symptoms than adults, even when infected.
Worse still, people with hepatitis B don’t feel the symptoms until a larger part of the liver has been damaged. In fact, gastroenterologists say by the time the symptoms of hepatitis B infection begin to manifest in an individual, it is almost always too late for doctors to help.
Physicians say there is no medication available to treat acute hepatitis B, though they may recommend rest, adequate nutrition, and regular intake of fluids, while some patients may need to be hospitalised.
And although not everyone infected with the hepatitis B virus will develop symptoms, persons infected may develop a sudden onset of fever, extreme tiredness, nausea, lack of appetite, abdominal pain (stomach pain), dark urine, clay-coloured bowel movements, joint pain and yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes (jaundice).
According to consultant physician, Dr. Aderemi Oluyemi, a specialist in hepatology, gastroenterology and endoscopy, the hepatitis B virus is spread through infected bodily fluids.

How to get out of debt

How to get out of debt
how to get out of debt
I discussed types of debt and how to avoid bad debt in my previous series of articles. Today, I will look at how to get out of debt. The reality is that many are deep in debt, and when the noose seems to tighten more, they incur more debt to provide temporary relief.
Getting out of debt is not the main issue. It is learning the lesson so that you don’t become a repeat offender that is crucial. You have to understand how you got here. You borrowed for things that did not pay for themselves. In the case of equipment, you borrowed to procure equipment that did not pay for itself. You assumed it will. You assumed wrong. You did not test your assumptions. Assumptions get people into trouble, especially the debt variety.

Protect your bone

bone health
Without the bones, the human body will just hang like a damp cloth. This is because bones give the body structure; and they also protect internal organs by ensconcing them in cage-like structures that shield them from damage.
Again, the body stores calcium through the bone, providing the body with the muscles it needs to move. Calcium also helps the nerves to carry messages between the brain and every body part.
Experts advise that we take steps to build strong and healthy bones during childhood and adolescence, and as we age, there are also steps one must take to protect them and keep them in top health.
In men, physicians say, bone mass peaks around age 20, after which subtle bone mass loss sets in, worsening as the decades fly by. Scientists say eating calcium-rich foods and getting enough vitamin D are some ways to prevent bone mass loss and ensure bone health for life.
